About Me

People ask me what I do for a living is, and the best I can do sometimes is to shrug and say "whatever I need to do." I wear many hats, and they're all ones that I've handcrafted myself: I work as a designer, but I have no formal training in design; I work in events and banquets, but I have no training in this area.

I took a sociology* degree because when I was young (and still today), I could sit and look at maps for hours with a sense of awe at how pieces fit together in the big picture. I spent my collge years analyzing everything I could find ad nauseam (or at least ad annoying).

I am, and have always been a (sometimes begrudging) leader; it is a place I fall into because I will never be satisfied with seeing someone or something reach anything less than its full potential.

The end result is one person who does many things, but is never an island, one who will attack any project by looking at every angle, every need, every facet with a desire to understand the big picture.

*Technically, "Contemporary American Society", with a focus on the growth and dynamics of organizations. Blame liberal arts schools.

What am I looking to do?

I focus on the arts community in Rochester, NY through work in events, promotion, writing, websites, CD/merch designs, and probably anything else related. I specialize in music because it's what I love the most. I work with qualified people in their respective fields to identify and build the product that is needed, be it a press release or a production. My mission along the way is to build up the young talent and build up the music scene in this area; I have no shame taking on good projects outside the area, of course - see my "Design" and "Concerts" page for examples of these.

My Core Philosophy

The symbol in the background sketch is calligraphy of the chinese character "hu", or Tiger, that I had adapted to fit my initials in. The tiger is my favorite animal because I believe that no creature in the world better balances the sense of beauty and strength than the tiger (not to mention because I was born in the Year of the Tiger!).

What does this mean for our design?

I will take every special care to learn about you and your event, company, band, or product, to figure out what makes you tick, where you come from, where you are, and where you want to head.

The result is one that comes not from a textbook training in graphic design that kept me in computer labs all day, but from a training in sociology, studying the world and cult- ivating a pure love for things beautiful and balanced.
